IND vs SL: Suryakumar Yadav Reveals His Best T20I Innings. This year, Suryakumar Yadav was a revelation and cemented his status as a T20 international superstar. He has been dubbed “the next AB de Villiers” by many due to his ability to play shots all over the field. The Indian batsman has described his most pivotal moment as his counterattacking fifty against South Africa at the T20 World Cup 2022 in Perth.

Lungi Ngidi (4-29) caused mayhem as India lost the toss and elected to bat first, but they were reduced to 49-5 in nine overs. India set a target of 133/9. SKY was the only Indian batsman who appeared at ease on the field, smashing 68 from 40 balls with six fours and three sixes. Just fifteen minutes before the match against South Africa, the 31-year-old began to feel the playing surface.

The Practice Pitches Were Quick – Suryakumar Yadav

The 32-year-old said in an interview with The Indian Express that the Perth pitch, which he characterized as the most challenging he has ever played on, required positive thinking in order to survive.

“I think that half-century against South Africa in Perth was the defining knock for me. It was the most challenging wicket I have faced till date. Before the game, I went to bat in the nets for 15 minutes and I got the feeling of Perth there itself,” he told The Indian Express in an exclusive.

“The practice pitches were quick. So I faced a mere 15 balls and told Vicky paaji (batting coach Vikram Rathod) that I am done for the day, whatever batting is to be done will be done in the match.”

Suryakumar said about his thoughts as he went out to bat with India in all sorts of trouble. “When I went in to bat, I told myself ki yeh pitch toh sochne se bhi jyada tez hai (this pitch is quicker than I thought). So, when I went to the non-striker’s end, I kept thinking which shots I could play, as there was bounce too. When we were 49 for 5, we had nothing to lose. We could have got all out for 75, but I decided to take the positive route.”

The 31-year-old has performed admirably for India. In 31 T20Is this year, he has scored 1,164 runs at an average of 46.56 and a strike rate of 187.43. Suryakumar, who has two hundred, and nine fifty-sixes, and a top score of 117, is the top T20I run-scorer in 2022.
