The 23-year-incredible old’s innings cemented his place in history as the Male ODI’s youngest player to ever make a double hundred.

In a Men’s ODI, Gill’s 208 ranks as the joint-ninth-highest individual score.

He now joins a select group of only eight players who have accomplished the feat in the format’s history.

The only other player to reach a double hundred many times in ODIs is India captain Rohit Sharma (doing so three times).

Five of the eight players to score 200 or more in an ODI are Indian, while there are another two.

Gill’s performance against New Zealand was the highest run total by an Indian player in an ODI.

His 208 is the greatest score for India in any format in Gill’s career, and it’s also his fourth century (three in ODIs and one in Tests).

As the innings went on, Gill’s scoring quickened; in just 23 balls, he moved from 150 to 200, surpassing the double-century mark after three consecutive sixes.

Gill’s 208-run performance helped him surpass 1000 ODI runs for India in his career.

He did it more quickly than any other Indian before him, doing so in 19 games.

Only Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman accomplished this feat in the game’s history, and in fewer games (18).
