IPL Auction Live: ‘RCB Can’t Afford Sam Curran’. On December 23, Kochi will play host to the eagerly awaited mini-auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. Aakash Chopra, a former cricketer for India, believes that the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will not be able to purchase Sam Curran in the forthcoming mini-auction. In the auction, RCB had the second-lowest bid of 8.75 crore, and Kolkata Knight Riders had the lowest bid of 7.05 crore.
The Bangalore-based club, which released the fewest players of any team before the mini-auction, kept their core roster and only five others. They have kept 18 players, and there are still two international players and a maximum of seven auction places to fill. RCB released Sherfane Rutherford, Chama Milind, Aneeshwar Gautam, Luvnith Sisodia, and Jason Behrendoff.
RCB Might Want To Go Towards Left-Armers– Aakash Chopra
Sam Curran’s signing by RCB will not be considered, according to Chopra in a video posted on his YouTube channel. According to the former India opener, the team required a backup pitcher for Josh Hazlewood. Reece Topley, Dilshan Madhushanka, and Joshua Little have been suggested because he thinks they might be seeking left-arm seamers.

“There will be matches in Chinnaswamy as well this time, the simple meaning of that is – make your bowling side slightly more heavy, buy someone who you can get cheap. They might want to go towards left-armers. They will not even think about Sam Curran, nor will they be able to afford him.”
“It can be Reece Topley, Madushanka or Joshua Little. They might need a backup for Josh Hazlewood as well because this is the Ashes year. Some people might run away in between this year. It can be Paul van Meekeren as well. This team might look towards associate nations.”

I Rate Adam Zampa Little Higher – Aakash Chopra
Chopra predicts that RCB might sign Adam Zampa or Adil Rashid to serve as Wanindu Hasaranga’s backup pitchers. The former cricketer-turned-commentator advised the three-time champions to strengthen their middle-order middle batting.
“If you talk about their spin department, you can see Adam Zampa or Adil Rashid as a backup for Wanindu Hasaranga. I will go towards Zampa, they can go whichever way they want. I rate Zampa a little higher.”
“Daryl Mitchell is available. They tend to have problems in the lower-middle order because they have to get the job done by Shahbaz Ahmed and Dinesh Karthik, so you feel you can get one or two more guys. I don’t see Wanindu Hasaranga as an all-rounder but a bowler, because he has not contributed much with the bat in the IPL.”
