During India’s first Test match against Bangladesh on Wednesday at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, wicketkeeper, and batsman Rishabh Pant of India reached the milestone of 4,000 runs in international cricket.
After Virat Kohli was out, Pant entered the fray. He carted left-arm spinner Taijul Islam for three fours and a six over wide long on to stay unbeaten at 29 off 26 balls and help India reach 85/3 after 26 overs at the halfway point.
In 66 T20 Internationals, Rishabh Pant scored 987 runs at an average of 22.43; in 30 ODIs, he scored 865 runs at an average of 34.60; and in 32 Test matches, he scored 2152 runs at an average of over 43.
Rishabh Pant Back To His Favorite Format
The 25-year-old has struggled in white-ball cricket, but in Test matches, he has dominated, scoring hundreds in England, Australia, and South Africa over a four-year span. Pant made two outstanding centuries in 2018, one each in South Africa and England.
India Wins The Toss And Decides To Bat First
After winning the toss for Wednesday’s first Test against Bangladesh, India’s captain KL Rahul decided to bat.
After three quick wickets, Bangladesh had the upper hand over India as players like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Shubman Gill were lost. Vice-captain Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant, however, have shown some comeback with a 37-run partnership.
India needs to sweep the series in order to maintain its chance of competing in the World Test Championship final. Bangladesh and India have never lost a Test match.
