The England Cricket Team is set to leave India and fly away in the middle of the ongoing 5-match Test series between India and England. This has come after England’s defeat to the hosts in the 2nd Test match of the series at Visakhapatnam. The hosts beat them in the 2nd Test to bring the 5-match series a level after losing the first Test in Hyderabad.

Jasprit Bumrah was awarded the Man of the Match for his scintillating performance with the ball in both the innings of the Vizag Test. The Englishmen were chasing a target of 399 runs and could only manage 292 runs in the final innings of the game. Apart from Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin was the second-best bowler as he picked up 3 wickets in the 2nd innings.

Now that the first couple of Tests are done, there is a substantial break before the 3rd Test match. The 3rd Test match will commence on January 15th at Rajkot, which has given plenty of leisure time to both the teams. While the Indian team will disperse in batches to spend some quality time with their families, the England Cricket Team is set to leave India collectively.

England Cricket Team to leave India

It is learnt that the England Cricket Team along with the families of players and the backroom staff will travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a short break. This will help the team regroup after a heavy loss and also help the players shift their minds away from the game. The entire English team will make a comeback on Indian soil, a few days before the start of the 3rd Test match.

As far as the ICC World Test Championship points table is concerned, the Indian Cricket Team has returned to the 2nd spot after the win in the 2nd Test of the series. They are behind Australia in the table, who have just lost one Test match in the current WTC cycle.
