India’s wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh is enjoying playing the finishing position and wants to progress in it.
In the second Women’s Twenty20 International on Sunday in Mumbai, the 19-year-old played a crucial role in India’s Super Against victory against Australia (December 11).

She smashed 26 not out off 13 balls with three sixes to help India tie the game by matching Australia’s 187. On the first ball of the Super Over, she followed that up with a six.
On the eve of the third T20I, Ghosh stated, “Smriti Mandhana had instructed me to come after finishing it, so I just did it.”
“Power striking has always been my main priority. I put a lot of effort into it and concentrated on my mental toughness. Everything went as planned, calling the second T20I knock the best of her career thus far,” Richa Ghosh added.
“I always aim to stay to the end and win for my squad.” We had a strategy in place. The plan was to keep the run flow going in the middle overs so we wouldn’t have to work too hard in the slog overs.”

“Hopefully, I’ll meet him someday”: Richa Ghosh
It seems sense that the Siliguri girl looked up to the illustrious MS Dhoni, who was known for his match-winning heroics under intense duress.
“Since childhood, I’ve followed Dhoni and how he used to finish the game,” she said.
“My dad also helped a lot to hone my power-hitting skills, he would go with me everywhere. He could not go on to become a successful cricketer so he’s backing me fully to chase my dreams.”
Ghosh, however, has a regret — not being able to meet her idol yet.
“I haven’t had the opportunity to meet him yet. There have been times when he would leave just before we were in for a camp or a match at a venue. Hopefully, I’ll meet him someday,” she stated.
At the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday, India overcame Australia in the second Twenty20 International after the game had reached a Super Over.
