The India T20 World Cup squad 2024 has been selected by legendary spinner Harbhajan Singh. Hardik Pandya was not included in Harbhajan’s lineup, but Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube were, along with Mayank Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal.
Despite being the only bowler in the IPL to capture 200 wickets and the leading wicket-taker in Twenty20 Internationals for India, Chahal has not yet represented his country in the T20 World Cup.

India’s T20 World Cup Squad 2024 Announced
Yuzvendra Chahal was left out of the T20 World Cup 2021 and was not allowed to participate in any of the matches in the mega-event of the shortest format in 2022.
In his India T20 World Cup squad 2024 announced via Star Sports’ official X Twitter, Harbhajan Singh named Rinku Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rohit Sharma as captains.
As wicketkeeper-batters, Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson were chosen, while Shivam Dube was favored as the fast-bowling all-round player. The former skipper of the Mumbai Indians selected Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav as two specialist spinners and Ravindra Jadeja as an all-rounder who can bowl spin.

He selected Avesh Khan, Mayank, Arshdeep Singh, and Jasprit Bumrah in the fast-bowling unit. Although Bumrah and Arshdeep have represented India in previous T20 World Cups, Avesh has participated in 20 T20Is and taken 19 wickets.
However, Mayank Yadav has not yet made his Men in Blue senior debut. Axar Patel, Hardik, Mohammed Siraj, Ravi Bishnoi, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, and Hardik are a few of the elite players Harbhajan passed over for the Indian T20 World Cup 2024 squad.
Young stars in IPL will have to wait more
By May 1, the Ajit Agarkar-led BCCI selection committee is anticipated to finalize the India T20 World Cup squad 2024. It is unlikely that players like Abhishek Sharma, Mayank Yadav, and Riyan Parag will be chosen for the West Indies and USA ICC event.
There is more battle to be included in India’s squad as the T20 World Cup draws closer. Players use the IPL 2024 as a crucial platform to guarantee their selection. The participants’ performances in the ongoing premier event are being attentively monitored by the selectors.

Inexperienced players won’t be selected for the T20 World Cup, according to PTI. After the competition, the younger players might receive an opportunity to play for the national team in a bilateral series with a shortened format.
The report stated that Riyan Parag, Mayank Yadav, Abhishek Sharma, and Harshit Rana’s performances had been acknowledged by the selection committee. But rather than fielding them in crucial World T20 matches, the selectors would rather have them in bilateral series.
The report made clear that seam-bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is being closely watched by the BCCI. Future selections may include Nitish Reddy, who has represented India Emerging in Sri Lanka.

In the current campaign, Nitish Kumar Reddy has appeared in four games. With a strike rate of 159.72 and an average of 57.50, the all-around player has amassed 64 runs. He has three wickets under his belt at a 10.33 economy rate. In the Delhi Capitals match, he amassed 37 runs and grabbed two wickets.
