IND vs NZ: Mark Chapman Gets Maiden New Zealand Central Contract. New Zealand has awarded batsman Mark Chapman his first central New Zealand Cricket contract. Martin Guptill’s role is effectively filled by the left-hander since he was released from his NZC contract in November.
Before making his international debut in New Zealand in 2018, Chapman, a Hong Kong native, participated in 21 matches for his home country. He has participated in 27 games for the Kiwis since then (22 T20Is and 5 ODIs). Chapman also took part in the previous two T20 World Cups that New Zealand played in.

“We’re delighted to have Mark join the central contract list after being there or thereabouts for a while. He’s a fine player and we like the versatility and innovation he brings to his batting. He’s a guy with a lot of talent and we see him being a big part of future BLACKCAPS squads.”
In addition, Mark Chapman has been selected for the next tour of India, which starts on January 18.
In order to minimize the burden on the players and support staff, New Zealand Cricket announced that regular captain Kane Williamson and Head Coach Gary Stead will not be traveling to India in the early part of next year. NZC stated that Tom Latham will take over as captain of the ODI team in India in lieu of Kane Williamson when selecting the squads for the forthcoming trips to Pakistan and India.
