IND vs SL: Rohit Sharma Does Not Like Sanju Samson, Got Him Dropped From ODI Squad Despite Selectors Backing- Reports. Sanju Samson, a wicketkeeper-batter, was one of the notable absences from India’s ODI squad for the upcoming three-match home series against Sri Lanka.
The national selectors announced the lineups for the ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, December 27. Samson was chosen for the team for the T20Is but not the 50-over matches. Samson is noteworthy since he played for India in their November white-ball series in New Zealand. Nevertheless, he was passed over for each of the three T20I matches.

He eventually had a game after being chosen for the opening ODI of the series, but after scoring a good 36 runs, he was benched for the next two games. Samson was also not chosen for the Men in Blue’s three-match ODI series against Bangladesh in December.
Sanju Samson Dropped From ODI Squad On Rohit Sharma’s Demand
According to reports in Cricketaddictor, Sanju Samson was ultimately cut from the national team because Rohit Sharma decided against including the Kerala wicket-keeper batter in the ODI squad. Even though the selection committee insisted on Samson, the Indian ODI captain wanted KL Rahul to stay in the lineup.
Sanju Samson, who earlier this year received support from the captain Rohit Sharma, was also disqualified from the 2022 T20 World Cup. Sanju has a lot of promise, and Rohit sees him as a potential match-winning contender. The skilled hitter has been having trouble keeping his spot in the starting lineup despite consistently strong performances because these words did not translate into action.

Samson has participated in 11 One Day Internationals and has scored 330 runs with a strike rate of 104.76 and an average of 66. Since making his 50-over debut against Sri Lanka the prior year, he has played in ten of his eleven matches this year.
Sanju Samson Finds No Place In ODI Squad
Sanju Samson was only able to join the T20I squad after being dropped from the ODI team. Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul are the two wicketkeeper-batters for the 50-over matches.
On January 3, the T20I series is slated to start in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The second and third games will take place in Pune and Rajkot on January 5 and 7, respectively. The opening match of the ODI series will take place in Guwahati on January 10. The last two matches will take place in Thiruvananthapuram and Kolkata on January 12 and 15, respectively.
