IND vs SL: Rahul Dravid Unhappy With Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar Yadav has experienced tremendous success in T20 international cricket as well as other forms of white-ball cricket this year. Although Suryakumar has been a member of the Indian team for some time, his international career really took off after Rahul Dravid became the team’s head coach.
Dravid, who is considered one of the best batters of all time, allegedly offered Suryakumar some sage advice during one of their first meetings after Dravid entered the Indian lineup.

“During the Kanpur Test I was batting in the nets and he (Dravid) said, ‘You are looking good, you just need to curtail a few strokes and just be yourself’. At the end of the day, it’s about scoring runs in this format as well. He told me to just keep things simple and enjoy what you are doing,” Suryakumar told Hindustan Times.
The player with the most runs in T20Is this season is Suryakumar, who amassed 1,164 runs in 31 games at a strike rate of 187.43 owing to two centuries and nine fifties. Surya recalls his fantastic year and continues,
“It’s the fruits of all the hard work I have put in over the last 10-15 years…all the sacrifices that my family and I have made together. I’m just enjoying the fruits right now and very happy to stay in this space.”

Suryakumar Yadav Eager To Don Indian Cap
He hasn’t yet taken the field for India in a Test, though. Although he has never quite cracked the starting lineup, Suryakumar has occasionally been a member of the Indian Test team and has taken part in matches as a replacement fielder. According to former India head coach Ravi Shastri, Suryakumar is an “all-format player,” and there have been increasing calls for him to be given his first Test cap.
Surya is eager to represent India by donning the whites as well. “I have got runs in this format as well (in first-class cricket). I enjoy batting in this format. I still remember him (Shastri) saying, ‘I was an all-format player’. So it feels really good to hear something like that from someone of his stature,” says Surya.
“I first got recognition because of my performances in the red-ball cricket. So, this format (four-day) is very close to my heart,” he adds.
