Tom Latham, the captain of New Zealand, won the toss and decided to bowl first in the third and final ODI against them on Sunday. To play the dead rubber, Umran Malik and Yuzvendra Chahal were brought in rather than Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami.
In order to take a 2-0 series lead, the Indian cricket team defeated New Zealand in the first two one-day internationals.
According to Rohit Sharma, the club aims to take advantage of the favorable pitch. He also understands that the team still has room for improvement and sees this game as a chance to do so.
In addition, he said that Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami are taking a break and would be replaced by Umran Malik and Yuzvendra Chahal for the game.
For the upcoming game, the New Zealand team has also changed a few players on the roster. Henry Shipley has been replaced in the starting XI by Doug Bracewell.
Revealed Why Mohammed Siraj And Mohammed Shami Are Not Playing 3rd ODI vs New Zealand
Team India, captained by Rohit Sharma, will play New Zealand in the third and final ODI of the three-match series on Tuesday at the Holkar Stadium in Indore (January 24).
“We would have batted first, as a team we want to get out and play well. It is a great ground to play in, every time we come here it has been a good score. What is important is to give chance to some of the new guys who haven’t had a game and see how they go. We have got two changes – Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj are out, and Umran and Chahal are in,” Rohit said at the toss.
India has already clinched the series after winning the second ODI by an eight-wicket margin on Saturday in Raipur, giving them a commanding 2-0 lead. India will try to upset the top-ranked team in order to make history.
