Rohit Sharma Equally Responsible As Virat Kohli- Gautam Gambhir Tears Apart Indian Captain Despite Sri Lanka Win.
Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, has now played 50 international innings without recording a century. When he hit 83 against Sri Lanka in the first ODI, he nearly broke the curse. He also got 42 in the third ODI and appeared to be on his way to a century before being removed. India swept the series with a commanding 317-run victory.
Despite convincingly winning the series, Rohit Sharma’s lack of centuries, in Gautam Gambhir’s opinion, has hurt India. In September 2021 at the Oval, he hit his final century in an ODI and in a match against England.

In an interview with Star Sports, Gambhir made a comparison between Rohit’s predicament and that of Indian captain Kohli, saying that the latter will be furious with himself for losing the two opportunities in the series.
Gautam Gambhir Explodes On Rohit Sharma
“We should talk in the same phase. Virat Kohli didn’t get a hundred for three and a half years. I think Rohit should be kicking himself. It will be equally hard on Rohit Sharma as well. 50 innings are a lot, it’s not like he didn’t get a hundred in one or two games. If you look at the last (ODI) World Cup, one thing is missing from his game and it’s the ability to get those hundreds,” Gambhir said during the mid-innings show.

Gambhir continued by saying that Virat Kohli, who has struck three ODI hundreds in his past four ODI innings, must have the same hunger as the Indian captain.
“Rohit Sharma looks in good touch no doubt about that. However, he needs to convert these starts into big knocks. Virat has found his form, and now he needs to show the same hunger. His and Virat’s form will be key if India want to all the way this time,” he added.
Regarding Virat Kohli, he went more than three years without recording a century against a foreign opponent. In the Asia Cup 2022 match against Afghanistan, he got his first T20I tonne to break his century dry.
With three hundred in his last four ODI innings, he has now regained his best form. For Indian cricket, especially in the year of the domestic ODI World Cup, Kohli’s form is quite encouraging.
