Indian fans are furious with captain Rohit Sharma after their defeat to England in the 1st IND vs ENG Test at Hyderabad. Team India faced a shambolic defeat by 28 runs in the first Test in Hyderabad that ended after 4 days of gripping action. The Indian team blew up a first-innings lead of 190 runs to lose the game in the 4th innings.
Ollie Pope was the Man of the Match for his herculean effort with the bat. Coming in to bat in the 3rd innings, Ollie Pope played one of the finest knocks played by an English batsman in subcontinent conditions. He ended up just 4 runs short of his double century, finishing eventually on 196 runs.

However, the Indian bowlers and captain Rohit Sharma were not their aggressive best when it came to going through the motions in Hyderabad.
The Indian bowlers had dismantled the English top and middle order under 200 runs even in the 2nd innings but Ollie Pope made the tail wag as he stitched crucial partnerships with Ben Foakes, Rehan Ahmed, and Tom Hartley which led to the Englishmen scoring 420 runs in their 2nd innings.
After the loss, team India are 0-1 down in the 5-match series and will be under immense pressure to win the remaining games as they have not lost a bilateral Test series at home since 2012. Ironically, England was the last team to beat India in a Test series in India.
Used to Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri’s aggressive and firepower brand of Test Cricket for the last decade, the Indian fans expressed their displeasure on the home side’s loss in Hyderabad. A lot of Indian fans turned to X (formerly Twitter) to appeal to the BCCI to sack Rohit Sharma and Indian head Coach Rahul Dravid.

The fire escalated even more after the game with Rohit Sharma’s statement in the post-match presentation wherein he stated that he would’ve wanted Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj to take the game to Day 5. This enraged the Indian fans and let’s take a look at some of the views of Indian fans.

Rajat Patidar in for Shubman Gill.
Let Shreyas Iyer have a back spasm and bring in Sarfaraz Khan as a replacement.
Let KL Rahul lead instead of Rohit Sharma.
And while at it, sack Rahul Dravid as the coach. Bring back Ravi Shastri. I’m sure BCCI can mend some rules.

#INDvsENG IPL is more important than playing test cricket for India….Please Sack Rohit Sharma he cannot do captaincy in test cricket…Look at Ben Stokes. He was excellent in bowling changes and field placement…our spin bowlers looks average compared to young eng spinners…

India and England will now meet in the 2nd Test of the series at Visakhapatnam from February 02. The hosts’ problems only seem to be increasing as star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is likely to be ruled out of the IND vs ENG 2nd Test after sustaining a hamstring injury in the first Test.
