The International League T20 (ILT20) has punished Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq with a 20-month suspension for violating the conditions of his contract with the Sharjah Warriors. Naveen-ul-Haq declined to sign the retention notice for season two despite being offered a one-year extension after signing with Sharjah Warriors for the competition’s first season.
Sharjah desired to keep Naveen-ul-Haq for the second season, under the same terms and circumstances outlined in the Player Agreement, after his outstanding performances in the first season.
However, Naveen and the franchise disagreed, so the team asked the ILT20 to step in. The ILT20 pursued a third-party, unbiased mediator mediation process to try and reach a mutually agreeable solution. Notwithstanding these endeavors, the mediation failed to produce a favorable result, necessitating more action.
Naveen-ul-Haq’s ban story revealed
“We do not take pride in making this announcement but all parties are expected to comply with their contractual commitments and recognize that non-compliance can cause damage to the other party. Unfortunately, Naveen-ul-Haq failed to honor his contractual obligations with the Sharjah Warriors, and as such the league had no option but to impose this 20-month ban on him,” said ILT20 CEO David White.
After the mediation failed, the ILT20 dispatched a three-member Disciplinary Committee to launch a probe into the situation. Chief Executive Officer David White, Head of Security and Anti-Corruption Col. Azam, and Emirates Cricket Board member Zayed Abbas made up this committee.
After a thorough investigation, the Disciplinary Committee’s final decision resulted in Naveen’s 20-month ban from the ILT20. White reaffirmed this in a press release, claiming that Naveen had broken his end of the bargain.
Gautam Gambhir recently discussed his verbal disagreement with Virat Kohli during the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) vs Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) IPL 2023 match in a podcast. A heated argument between Virat and LSG pacer Naveen ignited the fight.
However, following the conclusion of the ICC ODI World Cup, Virat and Naveen reconciled and resolved their disagreements. Later, Naveen disclosed how Kohli desired to put a stop to their conflict and how they resolved it.
