In general, Rohit Sharma does not display any emotions after losing his wicket, even though he frequently appears enthusiastic on the field. But after getting caught for a two-ball duck, Rohit lost his composure on Shubman Gill, who ignored his captain blatantly and was caught daydreaming in the IND vs AFG 1st T20I at Mohali.
Coming in to chase a target of 159 runs, Rohit was up against Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi in the opening over of India’s innings. Rohit played a defensive shot on the first ball before hitting the second ball towards mid-off and tried to steal a quick single. Shubman Gill continued to watch the ball until Ibrahim Zadran brilliantly stopped it, while Rohit attempted a run.

Zadran noticed this confusion and threw the ball at the striker’s end and none between Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were found anywhere near. Gill was perplexed, but Rohit got extremely angry at Shubman and asked him why he did not respond to the captain’s call.
Rohit Sharma loses his cool at Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill had no answers and he kept looking at Rohit, understanding he had committed a blunder at the start of the Indian innings. Rohit’s wicket was important for the team as he was the most experienced campaigner in the side and also for Rohit’s cause as he had been making a return to India’s T20I setup after more than a year.

Shubman Gill couldn’t convert his knock into a big one too and departed for just 26 runs as he was stumped out. Team India eventually won the match by 6 wickets, thanks to an all-round contribution from Shivam Dube. Dube ended up winning the Man of the Match award for his contribution with the bat in scoring 60 runs off 40 deliveries and with the ball in picking up a wicket in the 2 overs he bowled.

The Men in Blue will now take on Afghanistan in the 2nd T20I of the 3-match series at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on January 14th. Virat Kohli is expected to return to the side in the final 2 games of the series and hence, Shubman Gill might not be seen playing ahead in this T20I series.
