Ahead of the Serbian player’s first Grand Slam of the year, Novak Djokovic responded to India’s superstar batsman Virat Kohli’s well-wishes by saying he was looking forward to the day they “play together.”
The two players have talked about their mutual respect and affection for one another as well as how text messaging one another over the years helped to build their friendship.

Djokovic responded to a video message shared by BCCI on social networking platform X, expressing gratitude to Kohli for his “kind words.”
In a video released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Virat claimed that after initially attempting to say “hello” to the famous tennis player, he occurred to check his text to him by coincidence, which is how their conversation began.
On Sunday, Virat talked candidly about his relationship with Djokovic and the beginning of their mutual appreciation and friendship. It happened just one day after Djokovic played tennis and cricket with Australia’s top batsman, Steve Smith.
Virat Kohli hailed Novak Djokovic
When Virat achieved his 50th ODI century against New Zealand in the ICC Cricket World Cup semifinal last year, he said that Djokovic congratulated him and sent him a pleasant message.
Regarding Djokovic’s career as a player and his dedication to physical fitness, Virat expressed his admiration for him. He said he hoped to see the national hero of Serbia shortly.
Ultimately, Virat sent Djokovic his best wishes for the Australian Open, where he will be defending his men’s singles championship. Additionally, he informed Djokovic that Australia is his favorite location to play cricket, and the tennis player would appreciate the Australian crowd’s support.
After more than a year apart, Virat returned to T20I cricket and destroyed Afghanistan in the second match, scoring an explosive 29 runs in 16 balls and five fours. Djokovic also had a great start to his defense of the Australian Open title, defeating Dino Prizmic 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-4 in the opening round.
Before the competition, which commenced on Sunday, Djokovic had also discussed his relationship with Virat and provided details of a trip to India.
