The BCCI, on Monday, announced India’s Squad for Asia Cup 2022. Notably, the Indian Cricket Team will be led by Rohit Sharma in the tournament this year. All the senior members of the Indian Team including Virat Kohli and KL Rahul have made their place in the Indian squad for Asia Cup 2022.
The Asia Cup this year will be played in the T20 format as it will serve as a practice ground for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022 which is scheduled later this year in Australia. Harshal Patel, as already reported, has been ruled out of the Asia Cup due to a rib injury that he sustained ahead of the West Indies T20Is.
BCCI Announces India Squad For Asia Cup 2022
The BCCI, on Monday, announced India’s 15-member squad for Asia Cup this year. Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul all feature in the squad. Rishabh Pant has been selected as the wicketkeeper-batsman and so has Dinesh Karthik. The pace attack is led by Bhuvi alongside Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan.
KL Rahul has been appointed the vice-captain of the side and he will be accompanied by Ravindra Jadeja as another all-round option for team India. Harshal Patel’s miss will be a massive blow for the team as his records in the UAE speak volumes about the quality he has got on those tracks.

Team India will be taking on Pakistan in their opening fixture of this year’s Asia Cup. They have been drawn alongside Pakistan and the Qualifier team which will be announced after the Qualifiers are done away with. The game against Pakistan will take place on August 28 while the second group game will take place on August 31 against the Qualifier team.
The Super4 stage of the tournament will commence from September 3 and the final of the tournament will take place on September 11 in Dubai. Dubai and Sharjah are the 2 venues that have been finalized for the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup. Pakistan have already announced their 15-member squad for Asia Cup 2022 which will be led by Babar Azam.
Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are the other 3 teams that have been finalized alongside India and Pakistan for the 6-team continental championship. The 6th and final team of the tournament will be decided through a qualifier round which will be played among 4 teams including UAE, Kuwait, Singapore, and Hong Kong. The winner of the qualifier will be the 6th final team for Asia Cup 2022.
