The International Cricket Council (ICC) has punished Jasprit Bumrah who has been found guilty of breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct. The incident happened on day 4 of the IND vs ENG Hyderabad Test wherein, Jasprit Bumrah tried to block Ollie Pope’s way after being frustrated by India not clinching a wicket.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s tactics in Test Cricket have been under the scanner ever since the hosts blew up a 190-run lead against England and conceded 420 runs in the 2nd innings to lose the Test by 28 runs. Team India’s problems seem to be rising by the day as Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is all set to be ruled out of the 2nd Test match after sustaining a hamstring injury in the 1st Test.

Jasprit Bumrah found guilty by ICC
As per ICC, Jasprit Bumrah was found to have breached Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator during an International Match.”
Since it was Jasprit Bumrah’s first offense in 24 months, one demerit point has been added to his record.
The charge was leveled by on-field umpires Paul Reiffel and Chris Gaffaney, third umpire Marais Erasmus, and fourth umpire Rohan Pandit.
Level 1 breaches usually carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 percent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.

Bumrah pleaded guilty to the offense and has accepted the sanction levied upon him by Richie Richardson, the match referee.
