IND vs SL Live: ‘Hardik Pandya Takes Rest As And When…’- Former India Opener Slams India Captain Despite Win In 1st T20I.

India won the first Twenty20 International of the three-match series against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, January 3, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai by two runs in an exciting contest. Wasim Jaffer, a former Indian cricketer, expressed his worry about the spin bowling unit, calling Yuzvendra Chahal’s performance routine unsatisfactory.

Both of Team India’s spinners failed to claim a wicket, which speaks poorly of their effort. While left-arm spinner Axar Patel scored 31 runs in three overs, leg-spinner Chahal gave up 26 runs in his two overs. Newcomer Shivam Mavi made an impression with the new ball, taking four wickets for 22 runs in his four allotted overs. With two wickets for 27 runs, Umran Malik’s bowling also stands out.

The Spinners Only Bowled Two Overs Each – Wasim Jaffer

Wasim Jaffer said in an interview with ESPNcricinfo that spin bowlers should bowl at least seven overs instead of bowling fewer overs. He believed that Indian bowlers had to perform well at home.

“Chahal had a very ordinary game and that’s a disappointment. The spinners only bowled two overs each. And Axar had to bowl his third over – the last over. I think that’s a concern going forward. In most conditions, you would want your two spinners to bowl at least seven overs, if not eight,” Wasim Jaffer said.

Hardik Pandya Had To Complete His Quota – Wasim Jaffer

Jaffer voiced worry that Hardik Pandya didn’t finish his required four overs. In order to compete at home in the ODI World Cup later this year, the former opener emphasized the significance of his conditioning.

“Hardik Pandya needs to bowl. That’s again a concern. He takes rest as and when India can afford to give him rest. But going forward, because it is the World Cup, sometimes India might play with three seamers and he might have to bowl 8-10 overs in the game. He had to complete his quota today (Tuesday). Even going forward, he needs to bowl a lot more. He can be, at times, the third seamer that India needs.”
