India vs Bangladesh Live: Shubman Gill To Be Kicked Out Of Team India After 1st Test Reckons Mohammad Kaif. India, spearheaded by Cheteshwar Pujara and Shreyas Iyer, defeated Bangladesh on Day 1 of the first Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram by scoring a respectable total of 278/6. After Rohit Sharma’s return to the team, Mohammad Kaif has said that Shubman Gill must make his starts count in order to keep his spot in the playing XI for India.
The 23-year-old was dismissed for 20 runs in India’s first innings, therefore he was unable to make a significant contribution. In his final seven innings, he crossed the 40-run threshold three times, but he was unable to capitalize on the starts, and his greatest total during this time is only 52. In his 22 innings of red-ball cricket, Gill has yet to reach a century.

Shubman Gill Was Set, Had Played A Lot Of Deliveries – Mohammad Kaif
Mohammad Kaif expressed his opinion on Sony Sports that Shubman Gill won’t be included in the starting lineup whenever Rohit Sharma rejoins the squad. The former Indian batsman thinks it’s crucial for openers to build on a strong start by scoring heavily.

“You were set and you are opening. You will find it difficult to get a place once Rohit Sharma comes back. He has not scored a single century. He has played 22 innings. He has the highest score of 91, he has reached there, but not scored a century,” Kaif said on Sony Sports.
“As an opener, you want that once you are set, when you reach 20 or 30, you play a big knock. Virat Kohli got out at the start. We are saying it’s okay because he couldn’t judge the line, but Shubman Gill was set, had played a lot of deliveries,” he added.
He Is In Very Good Form – Mohammad Kaif
In addition to having a strong first-class cricket resume, the 22-year-old has routinely scored in the few ODI opportunities that have come his way. Kaif counselled him to execute his shots flawlessly and to hold off on playing novel strokes until he mastered them.
“Shubman Gill is a good player. He has an exceptional record if we talk about first-class cricket, he has an average of 50, scores a lot of runs. He is in very good form as well and came here after consistently scoring runs in ODIs.”
“He is an attacking batter and does not like to play dot balls. He tries to invent a new shot when you bowl dot balls. The modern players play the lap shot he played, but he will have to get perfection in his shots once he gets set. Overall, the runs are less if we see his track record in Test cricket,” he added.
Shubman Gill has played for India in 12 games and has scored 566 runs in 22 innings at an average of 29.95. He averaged 53.24 in first-class play and 57.25 in ODIs.
