India skipper Rohit Sharma’s left-hand injury sustained during the second ODI has all but eliminated him from the remaining Bangladesh trip, including the two-test series.
Rahul Dravid, the team’s head coach, made the announcement after the team’s defeat in the second ODI in Dhaka that the opener would be “flying back home” to consult with experts. According to Dravid, Deepak Chahar and rookie pacer Kuldeep Sen will not play in the third ODI in Chattogram because of hamstring and back issues, respectively.

Rohit Sharma To Fly Back To Mumbai And Consult An Expert
“It (thumb injury) isn’t too great. Some dislocation and some stitches. Fortunately, not a fracture and so, I was able to bat,” Rohit stated during the post-game presentation after making a brave 50 in a losing cause.
Coach Dravid acknowledged that he is unsure if Rohit will be able to take part in the Test series starting on December 14 in Chattogram.
“Rohit, Kuldeep and Deepak have been ruled out of the third match. Rohit will fly back to Mumbai and consult with an expert and see how it (injured finger) is. We are not in a position to say whether he will be able to play the Test series. It is too early as of now,” Dravid said.

It will take Rohit at least three to four weeks to be able to resume hitting in the nets, however, given that he acknowledged having a dislocated shoulder. Dravid is known for taking a cautious approach when confirming injuries.
On the fourth ball of the second over, Rohit dropped Anamul Haque off Mohammed Siraj at the second slip, leaving him with a cut hand. He was escorted off the field by the team physio.
The affected area required numerous stitches during the initial treatment, and he was transported urgently to a hospital in Dhaka for a scan.
“India Captain Rohit Sharma suffered a blow to his thumb while fielding in the 2nd ODI. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He has now gone for scans,” the BCCI stated in a media release earlier in the day.
