It seems as if the Indian team management has been strictly advised by the BCCI in regards to personal matters involving senior Indian cricketers including Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. A glimpse of this was seen in the post-match press conference of the Indian Cricket Team after they beat England in the 2nd Test of the 5-match series.
Indian head coach, Rahul Dravid, was asked by the media about Virat Kohli’s availability for the remaining Test matches of the series. It is worth noting that Virat Kohli was initially named in the Indian squad for the first two Tests vs England. He had even joined the Indian camp in Hyderabad on January 21.
However, on January 23, the BCCI announced that Virat Kohli had been ruled out of the first 2 Tests as he had asked for a leave owing to personal reasons. There was rumour mongering about Kohli’s unavailability and people even shared that Virat’s mother’s health is not fine and hence, Virat has asked for a leave.

However, those rumors were put to bed by Virat Kohli’s brother, Vikas Kohli. He took to Instagram to clear the confusion and stated that their mother’s health was absolutely fine. Eventually, AB de Villiers officially announced that Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are expecting the birth of their 2nd child and hence, Virat has sought leave.
After the conclusion of the 2nd Test match at Vizag, Indian head coach Rahul Dravid attended the press conference on behalf of the Indian team. Therein, he was asked about Virat Kohli’s availability for the remaining Tests of the series and Dravid responded by saying, “It’s best to ask the selectors. Selectors will be in a better position to tell you as they are going to announce the squad in a few days. We will connect with him and find out.”

India’s batting has suffered heavily in the first 2 Tests against England and there hasn’t been a collective effort from the Indian batting unit in either of the Tests. KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja being ruled out of the 2nd Test after playing the 1st Test has certainly worsened the situation for the hosts.
Individual brilliance from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill in the 1st and 2nd innings respectively, helped India gain a huge lead over the visitors in the 2nd Test match. However, the entire Indian outfit would be hoping their senior players, including Virat Kohli, return as soon as possible to assert their grip on the series.
