Jasprit Bumrah is currently at National Cricket Academy (NCA) undergoing a scan for confirming his fitness. Meanwhile, the Indian Team Management and BCCI looked very concerned as the probability of Jasprit Bumrah playing this Upcoming World Cup is next to the minimum. BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly also looked very tense regarding the condition of Jasprit Bumrah.

There is no doubt about the importance of Jasprit Bumrah as a Player. The Ace Pacer is a GOTO Bowler whenever the team finds it difficult to cope with the situation. He is Economical as well as Wicket Taking Bowler for the team. Bumrah’s ability to deliver in pressure situations has earned him a Place Above All in the Indian Cricket Team.

India’s bench strength in pace bowling will be put to test as the Jasprit Bumrah situation continues to evolve. With an authority as high as Sourav Ganguly saying there is a small chance that Bumrah could be fit for the World Cup in Australia, no one is willing to think of a potential substitution as yet. There may have to be a discussion on the topic soon enough.

Sourav Ganguly in his interview with Xtra Time said, “Let’s see what happens. Bumrah is not out of the World Cup yet,” in Kolkata on Friday. “Finger crossed, yes. We will find out in the next two or three days. Don’t rule him out yet.” Much as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president could be speaking out of hope rather than confidence, no one in Indian cricket is still taking the names of who will be his replacement if the situation arises.

As per the sources, Bumrah went for scans on Friday and the assessment is underway at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The initial impression is that the back injury that the India pacer is suffering from is not as serious as it was originally thought to be. However, there is no guarantee that he will be there for the showpiece event in Australia. The exact situation will be known by Monday when the team management and the national selectors will think of a replacement if need be.

There are potentially quite a few players in the line to come in. At this stage, Umesh Yadav, who is not part of the World Cup contingent, is on the side for the South Africa T20Is and Mohammed Siraj has come in as a replacement for Bumrah for the series. Both are in the race just like Avesh Khan, who was part of the Asia Cup campaign.
