Nepal’s Leg Spinner, Sandeep Lamichhane, who was appointed as the Captain of Nepal’s Cricket Team last year is currently accused of a very serious offence. Sandeep Lamichhane is being accused of a rape case involving a minor. This comes after a 17-year-old girl filed a complaint at Gaushala Metropolitan Police Circle against Lamichhane claiming that she was raped twice.
Police in a statement on Wednesday stated that the crime was committed on August 21. Bharat Bahadur Bohora, the chief of the Kathmandu district police range, said that the police circle in Gaushala in the city registered the complaint on Wednesday..

Police Issues Statement On Sandeep Lamichhane Case

Rabindra Prasad Dhanuk, the Kathmandu Valley Police Office chief, who is also the chief investigating officer in this high-profile case has expressed that an investigation has been started against Lamichhane. He also exclaimed that the 17-year-old girl had to undergo a clean health check-up. He said, “The police are sensitive to such serious incidents. We have made the supposed survivor undergo a health checkup and launched an investigation,”
The teenage girl said that she was a fan of the cricketer and she used to talk to him via WhatsApp and Snapchat. She says it was Lamichhane who first proposed a meeting and called her. However, the police did not reveal any official statement by the rape survivor due to integrity issues.
As reported to police, on the eve of the Nepal cricket team’s Kenya departure on September 22, Sandeep Lamichhane asked her to go on a trip to Bhaktapur, and the minor girl agreed. As the hostel closed at 8 pm, the minor was compelled to spend a night with the 25-year-old superstar at a hotel in Pingalasthan of Kathmandu, according to the complaint. It is alleged that Lamichchane drugged and raped her twice.

Sandeep Lamichhane had formerly captained the Nepal Under-19 side, first in 2016 during the Asia Cup and then in 2017 for the Asian Cricket Council World Cup Qualifier. He has also played in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Lamichhane is currently playing in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). His first international breakthrough came when he became the first cricketer from his country to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) when he made his debut for the Delhi Capitals franchise in 2018.
