This proposal by the cricketing star was welcomed by New Zealand Cricket and they agreed to release him from the central contract. The decision by the NZC came on this Wednesday. He mentioned that he wants to spend more time with his family. Boult also mentioned that he wants to play domestic leagues all over the world and for that purpose he requested a “Significantly reduced role” from the Blackcaps.

On the other hand, New Zealand Cricket had made it clear in their decision that they will give priority to those players with either central or domestic contracts. NZC chief executive David White said that Boult had made it clear during discussions that his appetite for touring had diminished.

“We’ve had several conversations and I know Trent understands that, in terms of selection, NZC will continue to make a priority of those players with either central or domestic contracts.”, he said.

New Zealand Cricket also expressed their gratitude towards Boult. “He’s been completely honest and up-front with us about his reasoning and, while we’re sad to be losing him as a fully-contracted player, he leaves with our best wishes and our sincere thanks,” said the officials of New Zealand Cricket.

After hearing out the decision, Boult also mentioned that he realizes that his decision will impact his glittering international career and may diminish his chances of playing international cricket for New Zealand.
