The India-Pakistan rivalry, which is already the most anticipated cricketing action in this Asia Cup is even more special for one more reason. The former Indian Skipper and India’s Ace Batter Virat Kohli has added one more record to his own record gallery.

Virat Kohli has become 1st ever Indian Batsman to complete 100 matches in every format of the game. And he is also the only second cricketer around the world to achieve this great achievement.

Ross Taylor Was The Only Player To Do So

Previously, Ross Taylor was the only player who was listed in this record of fame. In international cricket, former New Zealand batter Ross Taylor became the first player in the world to play 100 matches in all formats. He achieved this record in February 2020.

Rohit Sharma Is Ahead Of Virat In Shorter Format Of The Game

Kohli has played 99 T20s so far along with 102 Tests and 262 ODIs. Kohli will be playing his 100th T20 international against Pakistan. It is important to note Kohli will become the second Indian player to play in 100 T20 matches. Rohit has already played 132 matches in the shorter format.

The 100th match is always a huge occasion. This one is ultra-special for the Indian batter as it is the mother of all cricket matches – India vs Pakistan. He would be eager to make that extra special with a good contribution and help India win.

Unfortunately, things have not been good for Kohli in the last few months. The runs have dried up from his bat. He has not scored an international century for 1000 days. Such kind of a stat is surprising with the player having delivered big time against all opposition and all kinds of surfaces.

The former India captain is expected to bat at number three in the upcoming Asia Cup match on August 28. He will hope that the openers – KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma – deliver their A game at the top. In doing so, it will reduce the pressure on Kohli.

Pakistan might be missing their number one bowler in the form of Shaheen Afridi, but that does not mean Kohli will have an easy outing. Pakistan will be equally pumped and end on the winning side.

With Kohli having a good record against Pakistan in the shorter format, Kohli will take that kind of confidence into the Asia Cup. If Kohli fires, that would spell wonders for the Indian team as they are currently preparing for the T20 World Cup in October in Australia as well.
