India lost their second encounter against Pakistan by a very short margin. The game was on till the last-second ball of the inning. Asif’s straight hit along the ground made the difference. Pakistan defeated India by 5 Wickets.
In the post-match press conference, Virat Kohli praised Pakistan’s Ace Batter and also the Skipper, Babar Azam. India’s legendary Batter Virat Kohli showered a heap of praise and said that he (Babar) is a player who is always keen to learn.
Kohli also said that he doesn’t find Azam’s rich vein of form in international cricket to be a surprise.
Azam has been enjoying a great run in international cricket at the moment. While his time at this year’s Asia Cup hasn’t gone according to plan, Kohli claims that it is not a surprise that the Pakistan skipper is in a rich vein of form.
I Respect Babar A Lot: Virat Kohli
The former India captain said that there is always respect between him and Azam and said that the Pakistan skipper is someone who is always eager to learn.
“Babar is a very nice guy. I have always had good conversations with him. Kinship, I am not sure of but there is respect, there is always respect. He was always keen to learn. He spoke to me after our game in the 2019 World Cup. I have always said he is keen to learn and there’s no surprise that he is playing like this in all formats of the game. He is obviously a very talented player,” said Kohli.
Kohli also opened up about the mutual respect between India and Pakistan cricket teams and said that it is always nice meeting Azam and his men. He said that the Pakistani players are very friendly and get along with their Indian counterparts well. He also said that both teams are competitive on the playing field but are very respectful to each other off it.
“It’s always nice meeting him and also the other guys (From Pakistan). They are all very friendly and get along nicely with all of us. There is mutual respect between both teams. I have realised that it was there to be seen last year as well. We are very competitive on the field but very respectful,” said Kohli.
