India and Afghanistan are set to play their last match of the tournament viz. Asia Cup 2022. For both teams, the hunt for the trophy is almost over in this tournament. Pakistan and Sri Lanka being the Table-toppers, having won 2-matches each are all set to play in the finals of the Asia Cup 2022 which is scheduled to be played on the 11th of September.

To everyone’s surprise, the current Captain of Team India, Rohit Sharma misses out on the match against Afghanistan. KL Rahul, who is the Vice-captain of Team India is asked to lead the Team in the absence of Captain Rohit Sharma. KL Rahul came out for the toss against Afghanistan and revealed the Playing 11 for Team India. He also revealed the reason why Rohit Sharma will be not playing against Afghanistan.

Rohit Sharma Wants To Take A Break: KL Rahul

KL Rahul, while declaring the team against Afghanistan called out that Rohit Sharma will be not playing the Last match of this tournament against Afghanistan. He also explained the reason behind the Captain dropping himself. He mentioned that conditions in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are adverse. It is not possible to play back-to-back matches here.

KL Rahul during the toss said, “Rohit wants to take a break, playing back-to-back is not easy in these conditions. Yuzi (Chahal), Rohit and Hardik miss out. Chahar, Karthik and Axar come in. Even coming into this tournament, we had the T20 World Cup in mind.”

KL Rahul lost the toss against Afghanistan and is asked to bat first. Talking about the same, KL said, “We wanted to bat first. We want to challenge ourselves as a batting unit.”

Today’s Captain, KL Rahul also mentioned about two consecutive losses in the important stage of the tournament and learned what the Team received from these losses. Rahul said, “It’s good learning for us to play such a tournament before the World Cup. We have learnt a few things from the losses. Trying to finalise the roles that each individual will play in the World Cup.”
